Just ordered the engine build manual, cowl baffle manual and VW hot rod manual from Great Plains.(not gonna hot rod it, but has good info on lots of reliablity mods as per the late R.S. "Bob" Hoover). I have an 1835 HAPI case (made from a German case, Super Beatle post 1973) and rebuildable heads out in the shop. The way things are going I'm gonna be the most educated guy who never managed to finish up his KR......NOT!!!! I have 3 A&Ps who are assisting me with tooling and machine work when needed, and Micky Whittenburg (2011 Tony Bingelis award winner) will be my tech counselor (he's a VW expert). I want to do as much of the engine machining as I can. Wish I had money for SCAT case and heads..but maybe the next engine. Next task is to get the old crank out of the 1st VW, press off the hub and send out for magnafluxing. Guys at the local VW club are interested too. Need to clean the shop out .....
