Hi Peter, I'm not sure if you would be saving a lot at the end of the day. If you know of someone who can ship things cheap then go for it. I have found in the past that the freight is a killer. I have found that the freight will costs more than the product being purchased. Then if the value invoices with freight is more than $1000.00 AUD, custom and GST value amounts get added to the bill. As well you are then seen to be an importer of goods, and you have to keep any records for seven years in case of audit purposes if required. Make sure that none of the items are classed as dangerous goods. This adds a whole heap of trouble, and big dollars.
I am in the process of looking for glass material also in the next couple of weeks to cover my horizontal tail plane section. I'm going to see what pricing is around local. Boating supplies is a good start, some one who specialise in building canoes and smaller type boats. http://boatcraft.com.au/Shop/ Good luck with your searching. If you find some one good, pass the details on to use all.
