Brian,
There are no flaps on my plane, just the belly board. The board is 9" x 30"
and extends down to 80 degree angle. I usually deploy it half way just after
I turn final which is at a speed of approximately 120 mph. The plane will
quickly bleed off speed and when the speed hits approximately 100 then I
fully deploy it. I like to touch down between 75 and 80 mph. The belly board
when deployed will cause the nose to pitch up so you have to apply forward
stick to keep it down and this gives you a great view of the runway all the
way to touchdown. Personally, I love the belly board on the KR and would not
change it over to flaps.
