My two cents.......reguardless wether you fly in or drive in, the KR gathering
is a great time meeting people with common interest building and flying KR
aircraft. Meeting the pilots with so much knowledge and experience with their
aircraft are ideal conditions that everyone looks forward to when going to the
Gathering.The saying time flies when you're having a good time.It's so true
before you know its over.I suggest two KR events in one year.
Here in upstate NY the RV forum held at the Oswego County Airport (FZY) in
Fulton, NY is huge because of it's forums and builder workshops..... let alone
all the RV's that fly in when the weather is good. Anyone can build an RV but
not everyone can build a KR. I suggest we plan two events in one year. Leave
the KR gathering alone and plan as usual the same time frame in September. For
the other event lets call it a KR forum/flyin. and gear it like WW Corvair
college. The numbers show there are alot of KR's out there unfinished for
various reasons.If my project isn't flying next year I will trailer it to a KR
forum. Maybe we should call the KR forum ,the KR Rodeo I can see it now, a
field packed with trailered KR projects. That would be a sight to see.
With two different events ,the builders of unfinished projects can get past
the road blocks,the newbies can get their questions answered by learning at the
workshops and the KR pilots will have two chances to fly safely to the
Gatherings. I volunteer to assist anyone with the forums idea. I don't think
this idea is too far fetched.

Leave it where it is. It is my fault that i did not make the Gathering. I
could have made it but didn't want to deal with the weather (I took the wimpy
way out), It won't happen again. If the weather won't let me fly, I'll drive.

Something to consider would be to have it in late May or Early June. By
doing this it may open up the KR Gathering to those who are younger with
kids in school to be able to come as a family. Also, this is the time when
people are looking to get out of the Winter blues and go do something. Just
a thought. I will be there regardless with God willing and the creeks don't
rise.
