Hey guys,As many of you know i am running a gravity feed system from a header
tank and also have 2 wing tanks that I have plumbed to a manifold under the
pilots seat to one facet fuel pump that transfers to the header tank. Foralmost
a year now the facet pump has occasionally not worked.. Usuallly cycling the
switch would bring it back into operation. I always have nearly 2 hours of fuel
when I start the transfer so even if it didn't work I had plaenty of time to
land. That should be enough background information.Well it did quit on saturday
(well never started) It was hot when I took the seat out also. I messed around
with it a little bit then. Just tapping on it and checking connections and
power. Still nothing. So Sunday morning since i had another new one on the
shelf I took it out to replace but i couldn't just let it go at that. I tested
it on the bench and got nothing so I started taking it apart. i just got the
springs from on top of the plunger and a couple other little dodads and tried
it again with power. This time it ran and sounded fine. I checked it alll for
dirt or someother contaminate and found nothing. I reassembled and bench tested
again. It still worked so I reinstalled it as a final test and it drafted the
fuel instantly and pumped about 6 gallons up to the header. I cycled it a bunch
of time and could not get it to fail. I can only suspect some small peice of
dirt jambing th eplunger or something like that. All this just to say as good as
the facets are and their track record is great things can and will happen.Joe
