I'm not sure this applies to this discussion but I'll toss it out while "connectors" are the subject. There is apparently a connector of some type that after crimping it is heated to melt internal solder. That's the story I got. I've not seen one but a friend was having intermittent high oil pressure reads and found some of these type connectors making poor connection. He "re-heated" to melt the solder and fixed the problem. If anyone wants more information on these I'll get back to you.
