Update on N335KC: I'm working on redoing the fuel systems and continuing
rewiring the airplane's systems to communicate with the GRT EFIS and
Electronics International EIS in the new panel. I never thought I'd be flying
behind a glass panel, but this plane is the perfect place for a compact,
competent, full-featured EFIS with as much stuff remote-mounted as possible.
The KR 1-1/2 panel is quite compact, but remoting the transponder, COM, EIS,
and a lot of peripheral things means that the panel can provide a lot of power
and punch in just the one screen. I'm also incorporating pitch and roll servos
for autopilot control through the Horizon EFIS, a really nice feature to have
on a cross-country machine like Sunbeam.

Working on these airplanes is how I keep my sanity and keep the creative juices
flowing, now in my 74th year of life and 57th year of aviation activity. Every
hour spent in the hangar is not only another hour spent keeping me out of
trouble and healthy, but is also another hour spent learning, growing, and
smiling as I work on a real airplane and its real systems. Not pictures in a
magazine or pages on a website, not blog posts or what-if discussions, but real
hands-on airplane construction and documentation. Just the thing for the
engineering mind with a will to turn ideas into reality. So let's do 2026,
shall we?
