As it is now, they are listed in no particular order, other than the 2nd
internal drive [/media/HD2] is always first in >the listing... it seems
to be totally random in the order they are listed, and not always the
same. A waste of time to >hunt for the drive to click on.

There is no known way to change the device names directly from KDE GUI.
However, you can use the recipes from this page:
