Assuming that all the settings are in the same order in Krusader with the language that you are using, I noticed that you only had the following relevant setting checked "Double-click selects (classic)" I have "Double-click selects (classic)" and "Left mouse button selects" checked and I have the exact behavior that you desire.
I just noticed that you have "Shift/Ctrl-Left mouse button selects" checked. When I check that box, and UNCHECK "Left mouse button selects" I get the behavior that you describe in your message. The behavior that you DON'T seem to want. I have t admit that if I wanted to set up Konqueror to work the way that you seem to want it to work, I would check the box that you checked "Shift/Ctrl-Left mouse button selects"
Again, if you have "Double-click selects (classic)" and "Left mouse button selects" checked, I think you will have the selection behavior that you desire.
