Erm... yes... "shcomp" would be needed. I hoped we can start using
"shcomp" somewhere around build 110-112 (or better: >= 1-2 months).

The alternative may simply be to remove the '^' character from the PIT
test until we switch to compiled shell scripts - that would avoid the
whole pain ...
