My understanding is that Sun Early Access programs often require a fair amount of dedicated staffing to be successful (e.g., identifying potential sites, determining if they're a good match for the program, verifying that the site is actually using the software once it's been delivered, quickly responding to questions and problem reports). I suspect that externally-driven projects will have problems providing that level of staffing, and that we'll want to find new models. One model that we talked about during the OpenSolaris Pilot was an OpenSolaris Beta project. This would be a project that simply integrated other projects that hadn't been put back into the main gate yet. Sort of like the odd-numbered-release model that some FOSS projects use (e.g., GNOME, Linux kernel), I guess. Another model could be to integrate things into the main gate, but use Uncommitted for many of the new interfaces. mike
