It isn't, but it mey become a defacto standard after NFSv4 is implemented at
more than one place.

Unfortunately the main reason that prevents the Sun interface from becoming a 
standard is the fact that Sun did not define usage rules. If Sun did, then
there was a chance that the proprietary extended attibutes from Linux and 
FreeBSD could go away.

Note that this is important from the viewpoint of an implementor of a portable 
backup tool like star.
