Yes... I was thinking about the inetd parts of SMF. The problem is that crashing this part will decapitate the whole SMF system and recovery from that appears to be tricky (I used VMware's "snapshot" feature to roll-back such accidents but I doubt that many developers have the money for a VMware license and SPARC does not have something like that at all (except using a diskless setup where all the data are on the NFS server and can be fixed while the wrecked OS is offline) ...). > As a note, looks like dhcpmgr also uses it. > http://cvs.opensolaris.org/source/xref/onnv/onnv-gate/usr/src/cmd/cmd-inet/usr.sadm/dhcpmgr/lib/service.c#682 Uhm... Ok... that's new for me... ;-( ... thanks for the pointer... :-) ---- Bye, Roland -- __ . . __ (o.\ \/ /.o) roland.mainz at nrubsig.org \__\/\/__/ MPEG specialist, C&&JAVA&&Sun&&Unix programmer /O /==\ O\ TEL +49 641 7950090 (;O/ \/ \O;)
