Description
At present, the libast build overrides CPPFLAGS absolutely such that the
proto area is not searched for needed headers. This is wrong, it should
respect ENVCPPFLAGS* rather than picking up whichever headers happen to be on
the build machine.

Unfortunately, that project has not yet integrated to ON, so that doesn't
