Description
RFE: Provide an opensource version of /usr/bin/sed and /usr/xpg4/bin/sed -
right now these sources are closed-source and cannot be opened due various
(legal etc.) issues.
IMO it may be nice to have an OpenSource replacement which implements the
following requirements:
- Must be CSI-conformant (e.g. handle multibyte charcters)
- Must conform to the POSIX standard (for /usr/xpg4/bin/sed) with an option to
"downgrade" itself to /usr/bin/sed level
- Provides (some) of the GNU sed extensions (those which are not incompatible
to POSIX)
- Upstream must be alive, resposible and cooperative
- The license must be compatible to OS/Net (CDDL compatible)
