This is not a bug with kubuntu or ubuntu. It is the xorg.conf that is generated
by fglrxconfig from ATI. This config had the FontPath's commented out, and emacs
could not find the fonts. A fix to this problem was simply to uncomment the
FontPath-paths and set them to /usr/share/X11/fonts/<font>.
