Public bug reported:

Affects: kdenetwork kppp (Ubuntu)
       Severity: Normal
       Priority: (none set)
         Status: Unconfirmed

Description:
Kubuntu 6.06 Live

On running kppp the user receives an error message that resolv.conf is
missing from /etc. [console, touch /etc/resolv.conf]

After successful configuration of an ISP and modem in kppp it errors out
with return code 1. User is directed to
/usr/share/doc/kppp/README.Debian and from there to /etc/ppp/peers where
they are required to uncomment the line noauth in kppp-options.

User shouldn't have to create empty files or amend obscure text files
which have been set up to ensure their modem won't work.
