OK; that time /I/ wasn't clear :-) I know that step is supposed to regenerate the usplash in the initramfs, but the output in question contains the lines:
> Searching for splash image ... found but preserving previous setting: > splashimage=(hd0,10)/boot/grub/splashimages/kubuntugood.xpm.gz > splashimage=(hd0,10)/boot/grub/splashimages/kubuntugood.xpm.gz I was just checking that the poster isn't mistaking a Kubuntu GRUB splash for a Kubuntu usplash. Also, my up to date Kubuntu Dapper system doesn't have grub splash images, so I wonder where they've come from, and whether the /usr/lib/usplash/usplash-artwork.so symlink has been disrupted by the same thing. At one point the USplashCustomizationHowto wiki page did suggest overwriting the link rather than using the alternatives system. -- Ubuntu default boot splash is now kubuntu! https://launchpad.net/bugs/23252 -- kubuntu-bugs mailing list kubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/kubuntu-bugs
