~$ apt-cache policy kpackagekit
kpackagekit:
  Installed: 0.4.2-0ubuntu3
  Candidate: 0.4.2-0ubuntu3
  Version table:
 *** 0.4.2-0ubuntu3 0
        500 http://archive.ubuntu.com karmic/main Packages
        100 /var/lib/dpkg/status

I am not sure if it is a problem with policykit-kde, because I
reinstalled it, and the problem still persist. Also I removed
Kpackagekit and then installed it again. When uninstalling a package it
asks for password, but always reject it. The user and passord is
correct, I can perform the same tasks with Synaptic Package Manager. I
can install software without problem, but Kpackagekit never asks for
authentication.

** Affects: kpackagekit (Ubuntu)
     Importance: Undecided
         Status: Incomplete
