I confirm that there is a problem indeed. I've installed Kubuntu 12.04 Beta 1 today (alternate install CD) from scratch. After I restart my machine most KDE settings are reset to default. Desktop wallpaper, default web browser (changed from Rekonq to Firefox), Dolphin settings, etc. Fonts haven't changed back though...
