** Description changed:

I'm assuming this is kdelibs and that the problem is the same between
programs because I've only ever seen this on acer notebooks, and several
  of them.

  Krusader:

  - With space information enabled in prefs, navigating to a directory
causes a couple second delay before display of directory contents.

  Dolphin:

  - Opening dolphin takes several seconds

  - Right clicking a folder in dolphin takes 2-3 seconds for context menu
  to appear

-
  Notes:

  - Two acer notebooks with SSD's, 3 with HDD's, all exhibit this problem.
  - Creating new user profiles does not help
  - Running kubuntu in virutal machines on these same machines does not have
these problems
+ - Konqueror seems to have no delays
