I just tried Kubuntu 15.04 and you are right gcc is not installed. Maybe it was 
on Netrunner that I didn't need to install gcc.
I tried Ubuntu and gcc, and everything VirtualBox Guest Additions need if it 
need something else, is installed by default.

Maybe it's a good idea to provide gcc (and everything VirtualBox Guest
Additions need if it need something else) by default to ease the
installation in a VM ?
