LibreOffice without KDE integration works better than with it. Yet you ship it
and you are
so proud that that buggy package was written by a Kubuntu dude.

There is still no Qt release that includes the appmenu patch which entered
Kubuntu in
alpha or beta stage loooooong ago.
Kubuntu defaulted to Raster rendering in Qt long before it was declared stable
in Qt
(AFAIK only the upcoming Qt 4.8 version officially supports Raster).

Well, others here do.

Is that so? Bold words from a contributor to a distribution that is widely
known to have
the worst KDE experience out there.
Fedora and openSUSE chose to make Kontact work better by defaulting to SQLite.
Kubuntu OTOH can't even decide which package manager to use! My favourite past
choice of a
package manager was Adept which entered Kubuntu in beta stage, never left beta
stage, and
in the KDE4 version even crashed on dist-upgrades, leaving users with a broken
system if
they didn't know how to resume the upgrade process via aptitude. Then Kubuntu
defaulted to
KPackageKit (also at pre-1.0 stage) and now Muon which I have yet to try but
judging from
Kubuntu's past decisions when it comes to package managers, it likely sucks as
well
(although you use a post-1.0 version for a change).

So, dear downstream. Instead of bitching against the community that secures the
income for
some of you, better roll up your sleeves and start fixing bugs in Kontact 4.8.
