I see there was some discussion over startup times on IRC. If you want to profile startup you'll want to use systemd-bootchart [1] it tracks resources usage during boot, which is valuable information in finding out why it may be slow (outside slowness in software).
For debugging the actual session-start you can have a look at [2] which will tell you how to profile a plasma session on x or wayland.
