Thanks; the split patchset it _much_ easier to review, and hopefully to
bisect in case the review misses something.

I believe we can merge it at the next iteration.

Have you tested a real workload (like kernel compiles), for stability
and performance?

I can test Windows in case you don't have a copy handy.
