Summary: virtio_net not working

Initial Comment:
After many posts elsewhere - and no single reaction - I try this forum.

I use SuSE 11.0 and 11.1 with the latest kernel (.28.2) and before in both host
and the guest. I use the KVM83 package because using Qemu svn produces kvm
related errors.

After installing an image using '-net nic,model=e1000....' I changed the
previous model to 'virtio'. After a restart, I do get a IP address assigned but
also partial csum errors upon initialization.
After I logged in, ifconfig shows fine data, but I am unable to get any IP
traffic with anything but itself.

Can anybody shed some light on it? Not being able to use virtio_net is a real
show stopper for me.

Thanks, frans.

Message:
It did not worked under my x86_64 (Athlon64 2x) system. However, using
linux-2.6.29-rc1 (on the host) and later solved the problem.

I do however now see almost no gain in throughput using virtio_net or the
e1000 emulation. The difference is around 1 MB/s in the plus for the first.
So, still not really usable.

Message:
openSUSE 11.0 guest works fine with VirtIO network. Using standard SUSE
kernel from the box. (2.6.25.5-1.1-pae i686)

Running on KVM-83.
