Since "key" is an event *bitmap*, you better be treating it as such. Do 
not assume what eventfd delivers today (event bitmaps with only one bit 
set). So this better be like:

        if (key & POLLIN) {
                ...
        }
        if (key & POLLHUP) {
                ...
        }
