Follow up on my own post, sorry.

With kvpnc running, I telnet 127.0.0.1 2222, I get nothing, just hung telnet.

BUT if I run openvpn via CLI using the same configuration file.

 telnet localhost 2222
Trying 127.0.0.1...
Connected to localhost.localdomain.
Escape character is '^]'.

help
