On one install I did, I had a hundred or so mailboxes with no
extensions. I felt using valid extensions for phoneless locations just
to provide voicemail a waste of resources. I built a 300 and 400 group
of mailboxes in the voice mail system. I then provided a VTR button to
handle these voicemail boxes simply by providing in programming of the
VM box sending all calls to VM. It worked great and is in use today. I
programmed the button as VTR but it was really a speed dial #8* (?)
under the button, then the operator puts in the proper VM # 300 and 400
series. When a call comes into the business mind you, it is 100% auto
attendant most of the time so the custom menu is set to enter a mailbox
at any time... Hope this helps..Brad

This method will allow people in the office to be able to use VTR or
voicemail transfer to send calls to his mailbox:
1. change his actual ext number to a different (available) number.
2. create a phantom extension with the same number as his mailbox.
3. either turn on "call blocking" from within his mailbox (call transfer

features or something like that), or through pc programming set his box
to
"all calls transfer to mailbox".
4. relax and enjoy the praise from everyone as they confirm that you are

still the wizard who can do anything with phones.

(If you don't need VTR, then you will not need to create a phantom ext.)
