I saw the mess coming as soon as all the CLECS started coming in. The goal
at the time was to be able to trace a call across the country from a
terminal. Good luck doing that now. Time Warner raises prices every 6
months. No regulation, just nasty people to deal with. The phone company had
to jump through hoops just to get an increase. What is really weird is the
guy that taught me Lucent 5ESS left the company that paid for his schooling
and did the startup operation and test market here in Rochester, the first
to get dial tone from Time Warner. Well they bought a Lucent 5ESS switch and
he was in-charge of bringing it online.
