Chris, You have just discovered the true meaning of the message waiting button. I does not only work for the voicemail but it works for any other extension as well. If I call your extension and you do not answer, I can push my mw button and it will light up the button on your extension. That is to tell you that I have a message for you. When you push your button, it will call ME back so you can get the message from me. (Imagine a system without voicemail but where a receptionist takes messages for everyone.)
