There is a box that does exactly this function.... Connects to the Pana serial port and has a NET interface. Cost less than $200 (US dollars). Allows high-speed programming of the Digital's. I can get the entire 1232-4 program from the cabinet in less than 10 seconds on my NET connection !

I'm new to this list, and just installing a KX-TD 1232 at home. Have a question which I hope someone can help answer: I've down-loaded the Programmator software to configure and control the switch, but I would rather not always have to do that from a laptop, standing next to the unit. Instead, I'd rather be able to control it from a desktop, either at home or at work. The house has an Internet connection, complete with a router and a local Ethernet (available near the switch). So, I think I need: a) a way to trap Programmator commands on an NT PC going towards the serial port, and divert them to an appropriate Internet stream; b) an Internet serial server near the switch (RJ-45 Ethernet in, serial out), which will spit out this stream; and, c) an appropriate cable from the Internet serial server to the switch. Has anyone done this? Can you point me at the right pieces of software and hardware? Is there a better way? Many thanks!
