does anybody know how to say pppd to use ppp1-pppX instead beginning on ppp0 ? I'd prefer this because ppp0 is usually used for PPPoE/PPtP-Internet Connection...
Unfortunately, this can't easily be done. You can rename ethernet devices by running 'ip link set eth0 name eth2' but if you try this with pppX devices, pppd gets unhappy and doesn't work anymore. pppd may only require a small patch though, i've never looked.
