Popular Mechanics magazine has published a series of articles, available on-line, debunking a number of the 9-11 conspiracy claims, including the fairly nonsensical "In Plane Sight," and the idea that the WTC towers were brought down by explosives. The pieces are worth reading for their presentation of a lot of material that people who have concocted some of the theories choose to ignore, suppress or disregard themselves. It is also interesting, however, because it doesn't deal with any of the more fundamental political questions that exist around 9-11: the extent of US foreknowledge of Al Qaeda planning, the extent of US involvement in the creation of Al Qaeda, and the material Mike Ruppert has presented about the extensive coinciding war games going on in and around New York and DC as the attacks took place. I don't know that I buy Ruppert's conclusion that Dick Cheney was masterminding the whole operation, but I would stand by the conclusion I wrote and published in Turning the Tide immediately after the events of 9-11 in the article "Bush Knew -- Y Que?" -- Bush was aware that it was going to happen and allowed it to happen for his own purposes, and the question is, what are we going to do about it?
