Where: UCLA Labor Center 675 S. Park View Street In front of Mac Arthur Park We feel impelled to call for dialogue and action that will lead to effective transformative change. Our purpose is to call forth our communities to come and take the first steps toward building for change. Who is the community? All of us: workers, students, families. In essence we are who compose every part of society. Furthermore, it is imperative that as people of struggle we come together to engage in the dialogue necessary to uncover the oppression that is being perpetuated against us: racism, sexism, poverty, miseducation, and the list continues in an oppressive state. Only by dialogue can we begin to talk about effective means for change and take action. We aim to bring forth this understanding through looking at the past and the present (both socially and economic! ally). How feasible is this change? We will discuss how as students, workers, and families we can make this happen. The conference would be structured to enable the most possible participation from the people who attend, and it the discussion would be facilitated. We would be more effective in not only engaging in dialogue but building a collective vision of the movement we want to build today and the world we want to live in tomorrow. We have waged important struggles overall, but we we need to discuss tactics and strategy, and the effectiveness of the existant and non-existant movement. Our goal of this conference is not just to get together and discuss but to plan and give direction to organization. We intend on building communities and culture of resistance, struggle, and tranformation. We want to challenge the activist culture, and re-direct our struggle. The conference is open to all, we would ask that organizations pre-register with the organize! rs. We ask that those who wish to participate to help in outreaching to communities. Contact Nathalie or Joaquin at [EMAIL PROTECTED] The call was made by community members, students, workers, and others who are fighting for autonomy, building action, and who want a better world.
