SPOKEN WORD PERFORMANCE ART/EXHIBIT CLOSING ARTIST JAHA ZAINABU PERFORMS HER POWERFUL PIECE "JOURNEY"
SATURDAY, JUNE 4, 2 P.M. Well-known spoken word artist Jaha Zainabu will perform her one-woman show "Journey"--part poem, part theater, part dynamic dialogue with those who come to share it with her--in an event at the Southern California Library, Saturday, June 4, 2-4:30 p.m. "Journey" illuminates the experience of being a Black woman in Los Angeles today, exposing issues of race and gender. Jaha's companion visual art exhibit, also titled "Journey," is currently on display at the Library with individual works available for purchase until that time and at the event, for very reasonable prices. A portion of the proceeds will benefit the Library, a social justice organization founded in 1963 and located in South Los Angeles. We invite you to be a part of what we promise will be an engaging, powerful cultural experience, as well as an opportunity to purchase amazing art by a local artist.
