Mark Weber is a notorious racist, white supremacist, whose racism is not just anti Jewish. While I would be the first to lead a demonstration against the Simon Weisenthal Center and the Museum of Intollerance. Affiliating with this right wing, fascist racist would be a dangerous precedent for anyone serious about human rights and justice for Palestinians. This type of anti-zionism is rooted in the white supremacist belief that predates the holocaust, that claims that there is a worldwide Jewish plot to take over the world, that Jews want to kill all gentiles, that there is a zionist occupied government in the U.S. run by Jewish bankers and that Jewish communists are responsible for the Civil Rights Movement. They further believe in protecting the purity of the White race from the "mud people"; Arabs, Jews Blacks etc. This demonstration is a danger to any just movement against zionism and any real dialogue on human rights, the rights of Palestinians and the political shortcomings and opportunism and racism of the Simon Weisenthal Center.
Notice their focus is not on Palestinian human rights, or the crimes against the Palestinians, nor do they concern themselves with U.S. imperialism or U.S. foreign policy, but rather the hold that the Jews have on American society. These are frightened White boy racists. Their web page lauds Hitler, only white people speak at their conferences, and while the Institute for Historical Review concerns itself with the Historical revisionism of the Holocaust, with Jewish power, and zionism, it is also closely affiliated with the National Alliance which is more overtly pan-racist. http://www.natvan.com/ ("Bring the Troops home and put them on the Mexcian Border" They list George Wallace as a race traitor etc.) If we want to demonstrate against the Weisenthal Center, something I have been advocating for quite awhile. It should be done with care, discussion and deliberation, and with input into the message, with Jewish anti-zionist leadership, not as late comers to a Nazi demonstration with an anti-zionism front. The struggle against zionism should be clearly, not a struggle against the Jews, but part of an overall program of human rights. The racism inherent in this movement will discredit the just concerns we have regarding Israeli and U.S. policy, zionism and human rights. We do not have to deny the historical racism by Europeans against Jews to have a clear message against zionism. We certainly do not want to have the movement for a free Palestine affiliated with notorious Nazis. This is the kind of stuff the Weisenthal Center\Adl etc feed on. Supporting this demonstration would be a very bad call! In fact, perhaps a counter demonstartion that is anti-zionist and anti-racist might be very much in order.
