WHERE:
Sisters of St. Joseph Justice Center
           480 S. Batavia in Orange

WHO:

in August, and whatever we might want to do
in support of the Sept. 24th events in DC and

A are likely to be discussed.

Please bring your ideas, and be ready to step
up and participate.

DIRECTIONS:
Turn into the parking lot from Batavia just north

#3 "OutFoxed", "WMD", "Orwell Rolls in his Grave" in
       Anaheim Saturday, July 23rd

From: "DRA" <[EMAIL PROTECTED]>

Considering the abysmal state of, and people's growing
skepticism of, mainstream news, perhaps this is a good
opportunity to tackle some films critical of the media. Which
got more coverage, the Michael Jackson verdict or the
Downing Street Memos? The missing girl in Aruba or the
beginnings of the serious debate to withdraw troops from
raq?
Who benefits from keeping us in the dark?

Suggested viewing:

OUTFOXED (0:45)
A Robert Greenwald (of the UN-Trilogy fame) documentary
that dissects FOX 'News' to the point that the conclusion that
it's purpose as the propaganda arm of the Republican party
becomes pretty much inescapable.

WMD: Weapons of Mass Deception (1:18)
Released fairly recently from media critic Danny Schechter,
WMD takes a more broad view of the media in general and
shows that while the rest might not be as bombastic as FOX,
they are clearly not far behind.

Orwell Rolls in His Grave (0:45)
Another decent overview of the extent of public deception
and manipulation that has resonance with what Orwell
describes in 1984.

And some possible additional items worth your time.

When:
Saturday, July 23, 2005 at 12:30 PM

Where:
Christ Church Unity, Anaheim
1648 West Broadway Avenue
Anaheim, CA 92802
(714) 774-7660

Notes:
At the Christ Church Unity, Anaheim, 1648 West Broadway Avenue,
across from Loara Elementary. Parking in the back and also
across the street. http://www.unityofanaheim.org

#4 Nuclear Free World Conference in Las Vegas
       Aug. 4-7

Many Stories, One Vision for a Nuclear Free World:
August 4-7, 2005 in Las Vegas, NV

August 2005 marks the 60th anniversary of the U.S.
atomic bombings of Hiroshima and Nagasaki.
Urged on by the Hibukasha – the survivors of the
first nuclear attacks – the mayors of Hiroshima and
Nagasaki have called for “A Year of Remembrance
and Action for a Nuclear Weapons Free World.” To
honor this call, Pax Christi USA and the Nevada
Desert Experience have joined together to sponsor
“Many Stories, One Vision for a Nuclear Free World,”
a national conference and public witness at the
University of Nevada-Las Vegas and the Nevada Test
Site, from August 4-7, 2005.

See http://www.paxchristiusa.org for details.

#7 San Clemente Food not Bombs every Saturday,
        3 PM

From: [EMAIL PROTECTED]

We have decided to move our serving day and free
Market to Saturday, as opposed to Sunday. San
Clemente Food Not Bombs, beginning in March, will
be serving in Max Berg Park at 3pm every Saturday.

Some new projects within San Clemente Food Not
Bombs have been:

providing clothes, house supplies, appliances, and anything
else donated that would be of use to the lower income families
which we work with in our community.

Books Not Bombs. BNB collects and redistrubutes reading
material, preferably progressive and historical writings,
and offers them to the community at no cost. BNB looks to
collect, among others, childrens books to be distrubuted to
Las Palmas Elememtary School, located across from the
park which SCFNB serves at.

Finally, SCFNB has begun a small collection of youth working
to send items and love into the prison industrial complex.

Timmy and all of San Clemente Food Not Bombs

SCFNB can be contacted at [EMAIL PROTECTED]
*************************************************
#8 Every Sunday evening in Huntington Beach:

"Peace vigil every Sunday night at the foot of the
Huntington Beach Pier, 7-8 pm

We are a small group of people who believe in
non-violence both physically and in our thoughts.
We stand at the pier with a sign that says:"Visualize
World Peace. It's up to you". We want people to
start believing that it is possible to have a world at
peace, even if it's hard for most people to even
imagine it. We will discuss peace and non-violence
in a spirit of dignity and respect with anyone who
is rational and smile quietly at those who aren't.

With all the violence in our world, we seek to
encourage people to look at the alternative - to seek
peace in their hearts and in our world.
