What: "The New American Censorship," a presentation by Peter 
Phillips, Director of Project Censored (www.projectcensored.org) and 
Sociology Professor at Sonoma State University

Join us for this fascinating evening as we learn about news that has 
never made the news. Stay afterwards for refreshments and a 
book-signing of Censored 2005, the top 25 censored stories of 2004.
Peter teaches classes in Media Censorship, Power, Political 
Sociology, and Sociology of Media. He has published nine editions of 
Censored: Media Democracy in Acton from Seven Stories Press. Also 
from Seven Stories Press is the Project Censored Guide to Independent 
Media and Activism 2003. He writes op-ed pieces for independent media 
nationwide having published in dozens of publications newspapers and 
websites including Z magazine, Counterpunch, Common Dreams, Social 
Policy, and Briarpatch. He frequently speaks on media censorship and 
various socio-political issues on radio and TV talks shows including 
Talk of the Nation, Public Interest, Talk America, World Radio 
Network, Democracy Now!, and the Jim Hightower Show. Phillips is the 
national and international news editor with the North Bay Progressive 
newspaper in Santa Rosa, California. The North Bay Progressive is a 
monthly regional publication serving a five county area north of San 
Francisco. Phillips is a fifth generation Californian, who grew up on 
a family-owned farm west of the Central Valley town of Lodi. Phillips 
lives today in rural Sonoma County with his wife Mary Lia-Phillips.

Take Interstate 5 to the Alicia Parkway exit. Go inland on Alicia. 
Follow Alicia to Jeronimo Parkway and turn left. Turn left on Obrero, 
which is the second stop light. Make an immediate right into the 
parking lot. We are located in a small commercial building right 
across the street from Unisys Corporation. The church is about in the 
middle of the building.
