The Institute for Historical Review, founded by the racist anti-Jewish
Willis Carto, a Hitler sympathizer, and now run by Mark Weber, a "former"
member of the neo-nazi National Alliance, has called a demonstration for
Friday July 29 at noon outside the offices of the Simon Wiesenthal Center.
This is their second recent LA demonstration. In February, on short notice,
they pulled off a rally outside the Canadian consulate to support another
Hitler apologist, Ernst Zundel, who was being deported from Canada for his
illegal activities there. We cannot allow these forces to take the streets
in Los Angeles without opposition. Their true nature must be exposed and
denounced. They claim their action is motivated by opposition to taxpayer
support for the Wiesenthal Center, and the Center's support for war and for
Israel. But the fact is that groups like the National Alliance from which
IHR leader Weber hails, openly declare that they want to "prove" Hitler's
genocide against the Jews never happened, so they can justify war by any
and all means against Jews for falsely claiming to be victims of genocide!
They hold Jews responsible for what they consider "race mixing," and use
them as scapegoats for all the conditions and policies they oppose, ranging
from environmental protection to immigration, to civil and human rights. It
is not necessary to agree with or defend the political positions of the
Wiesenthal Center to denounce and oppose Weber and the IHR.

Anti-Racist Action is calling for a protest and vigil STARTING AT 11:00 AM
outside the Simon Wiesenthal Center, 1399 South Roxbury Drive, Los Angeles,
on the corner of Pico Boulevard, diagonally opposite the " Museum of
Tolerance." This is one hour before the apologists for fascism and genocide
have scheduled their rally at the same location. It is vital for all
opponents of racism and fascism in all its forms, to come and reclaim the
streets. A massive oppositional turnout will make it clear that neo-nazis
and their supporters have no welcome and no place in Los Angeles. ARA is an
anti-authoritarian direct action anti-racist, anti-fascist and
anti-imperialist group, and we see our opposition to nazis as absolutely
consistent with our opposition to war, police abuse, and occupation
(including the Israeli occupation). Don't be hoodwinked by the IHR. Back in
1992, the IHR (Weber in particular) participated in a "revisionist"
conference in LA that included local neo-nazi Joe Fields and his
apartheid-loving Afrikaner wife, along with a variety of other racists and
former Hitler collaborationists from Eastern Europe. The community drove
them out then (resulting in a police attack on the Black community of south
central that helped light the fires of the LA rebellion). Let's make it
clear that the nazis will receive just as hot a welcome in West LA as they
did in south central!
