The latest issue of "Turning the Tide: Journal of Anti-Racist Action,
Research & Education," Volume 18, Number 5, November-December 2005, is now
available. The issue features "The Five Faces of Fascism" by TTT editor
Michael Novick, of Anti-Racist Action-Los Angeles/People Against Racist
Terror (ARA-LA/PART), as well as "Apocalypse Now -- Sleepwalking to the End
of the Earth" by Maria Gilardin of TUC Radio; and "Charting the Journey
Home: Report from the Second US Conference on Peak Oil," by Megan Quinn of
The Community Solution. The issue also includes a report from the
Anti-Racist Action Network about a Toledo (OH) community fighting back
against neo-nazis and racist police, as well as an ARA call to anti-nazi
action in Kingston, NY, and ARA's Four Points of Unity. Another report from
the Lafayette, Lousiana chapter of Anti-Racist Action recounts grassroots
direct action on behalf of victims of Hurricane Katrina and US government
attacks in its wake. A broader look at Katrina and its aftermath,
emphasizing the need for self-determination, comes from the Malcolm X
Grassroots Movement.

A regular feature of "Turning the Tide" is commentary by former Black
Panther and death row prisoner Mumia Abu-Jamal, and this issue features
Mumia's unheard address to the Millions More Movement march in Washington
DC. Complementing Mumia's piece is an article by former CA death row inmate
Kalima Aswad, now a political prisoner in Vacaville, about stopping the
state's plans to execute Stanley "Tookie" Williams on December 13. A piece
from the Jericho Amnesty Coalition looks at the December 3 International
Day in Solidarity with Political Prisoners and a day-long teach-in and
political-cultural event that will take place on that date in LA (along
with related events around the US and the globe).

Rounding out the issue is a call for solidarity with Argentina's autonomist
workers (depicted in the film "The Take") to defend their takeover of an
abandoned hotel in Buenos Aires. Free samples of the latest issue are
available on request from ARA-LA/PART,
PO Box 1055, Culver City CA 90232 (US addresses only for free sample
copies). TTT is also free to prisoners. A one-year, six-issue subscription
is $16 in the US, or $26US overseas, payable to Michael Novick, and sent to
ARA, PO Box 1055, Culver City CA 90232.
