Apparently, the photo-shopping of images of a Black man "looting" in Katrina floodwaters has become a popular internet pastime. Here's an analysis of some of the images, along with a dissection of their racism, and the white supremacy entailed in denying the racism of the images:

She mentioned an article about "what makes a Muslim laugh," which she found bizarre because she thought humor was something human. That led me to think about racist humor, and the extent to which racist "jokes" are used as a badge of white racial solidarity; also the extent to which that humor is about inflicting pain and subordination, about ridiculing oppression and the oppressed (different from, for example, the often self-deprecating humor of Jews that I grew up with).
