ACTION ALERT delivering letter at McDonald's <http://www.ciw-online.org/>Campaign Against <http://www.ciw-online.org/>McDonald's!
The Coalition of Immokalee Workers campaign against McDonald's continues. In a new <http://www.ciw-online.org/news.html>Action Alert, the CIW is calling on its allies around the country to deliver <http://www.ciw-online.org/mcd_manager_letter.pdf>this letter to the manager of their local McDonald's franchise, as these members of the <http://www.ciw-online.org/Immokmcdsvisit.html>Coalition and <http://www.sfalliance.org/mecha_und.html>Notre Dame students recently did. The letters call on McDonald's upper brass to work with the CIW and farmworkers themselves to design, implement, and enforce real reform to abolish the sweatshop conditions and modern-day slavery in the fields that produce tomatoes for McDonald's sandwiches and salads. Thus far, McDonald's has only responded with <http://www.ciw-online.org/Tangled_Web.html>public relations maneuvering and has refused to work with the CIW. As The National Latin@ Law Student Association (NLLSA) recently <http://www.sfalliance.org/nllsa.html>pointed out, "We wait for McDonald's to publicly recognize what they already know -- that only by cooperating with the farm workers will they seriously and adquately confront the grim conditions in the fields."
