Civil Disobedience At
U.S. Senator Dianne Feinstein's
Westwood Office / 11111 S.M. BLVD.
11:30 am Press Conference
WHAT: An on going and determined CAMPAIGN of nonviolent civil resistance.
We are demanding that Senator Dianne Feinstein
commit to a complete end to the occupation of
Iraq as well as an immediate end of
appropriations for the war. A combined
demonstration/civil disobedience will occur.
WHEN: Monday, March 20, 2006 11:00 am
WHO: A coalition of peace and justice advocates,
veterans of current and former wars, members of
religious communities and labor organizations.
SCHEDULE:
10:30am - Procession of 50 to 100 U.S. flag
draped coffins from St. Paul to Senator
Feinstein's office 11111 Santa Monica Blvd, West
LA where the coffins will line the sidewalk surrounding her office building.
11:30am - Protest starts with a press
statement of our purpose and demands from
constituents of Senator Feinstein; followed by
direct action Nonviolent sit-in of persons
risking arrest. The Names of American soldiers
and Iraqi citizens who have died in the war will
be read publicly over a P.A. system.
WHY:
o To protest and demand an end to this
immoral and illegitimate war, which was
originally based on misinformation and half-truths.
o To show support for the people of Iraq,
who have suffered devastating loss of life,
destruction of infra-structure, and destabilization of their society.
o To show support for our troops, many of
which feel this war is a mistake (according to
recent Zogby polls, 72% of troops currently in
Iraq believe the US government should proceed
with an immediate exit strategy), to show them we
care and to demand that they be brought home.
