The suit against the sale was brought by Daystar, a Religious Broadcaster, and they won, forcing the sale to be invalidated.
There is a systematic drive by right wing opponents of truth to buy up PBS stations whenever possible. For a broadcaster from the religious right, it is a three way win. First the broadcast licence is non-profit, not commercial, so they can solicit funds for their ministries tax free. Second it opens a new market for religious fundamentalism. And third, it removes a voice of truth and reason from the airwaves. This is a clear conflict between Church and State since PBS was established by the government as an independant voice for the community, and is being threatened with takeover by Religious Fundamentalist DayStar. This is part of the nation wide, systematic attack on public broadcasting. Please join us in protest against the sale to Daystar and encourage the Coast Community College District to retain KOCE in partnership with the KOCE trust.
