#2 Million Votes for Peace Campaign at Green Meeting Sunday,
      August 6th

(Posted for informational purposes. No endorsement of a
candidate by the OC Peace Coalition is implied.)

               Green Party of Orange County
                         General Meeting
          Sunday, August 6th, 2006 @ 2:00 PM

Lunch with our guests: 1:00 PM All Welcome!

This Meeting: Three Distinguished Green Guests!

- Todd Chretien, the Green Party's U.S. Senate candidate
in CA, is calling for a Million Votes for Peace to make a
   referendum on the Iraq war.

   Todd is a long-standing anti-war, anti-death penalty and
civil-rights activist. Most recently, he participated in the San
Francisco May 1st Coalition that organized the immigrant
rights demonstration on May Day. In 2005, as a member
of the Campaign to End the Death Penalty, he worked to
prevent the execution of Stan Tookie Williams. He has
appeared three times on "The O'Reilly Factor". To find
out more about Todd, please go to www.Todd4Senate.org.

- Donna Warren is a different face in the Green Party. Running
for California's Lt. Governor with the Million Votes for Peace
Campaign, she stresses the need to cooperate on issues, across
party lines. In 1999 she sued the CIA for "allowing" crack
cocaine to infest South Central and in 2004, she was the field
coordinator for Prop 66, the initiative to amend California's
   Three Strikes Law. www.donnawarren.com

- Matt Gonzalez is the past President of the San Francisco Board
of Supervisors. In 2003, Matt ran a powerful grassroots
campaign for San Francisco Mayor and came close to
winning the election. Since leaving political office, Matt has
started a progressive law practice in San Francisco, Gonzalez &
Leigh LLP. He is advising on an appeal for Santos Reyes, a
victim of the Three Strikes Law, serving a 26 years-to-life
sentence for taking a DMV test for his cousin.

#5 Troops Home Rally in Laguna Hills Saturday, Aug. 12th

From: "Shirley McGovern" <[EMAIL PROTECTED]>

A Bring our Troops Home public rally will be held Saturday,
August 12th from 11am to 12:30pm. Participants will meet at
the entrance to the Laguna Hills Mall on El Toro Rd. and
Regional Center Drive, by Macy's.

The sponsor, People for Peace, invites the public to join them
in protesting the endless war our administration is waging in
Iraq. Despite over 2,500+ US fatal casualities and 30 to
100,000 Iraqi soldiers and civilians killed, there is no clear
exit plan for this unpopular war.

The public must speak out boldly and insistently against our
presence there, which fuels the insurgency toward more violence.

Stand up with others to end the killing. Bring signs and flags,
or use one provided.

For information call (949-587-0301)

We have decided to move our serving day and free
Market to Saturday, as opposed to Sunday. San
Clemente Food Not Bombs, will be serving in Max Berg
Park at 3pm every Saturday.

Some new projects within San Clemente Food Not
Bombs have been:

providing clothes, house supplies, appliances, and anything
else donated that would be of use to the lower income families
which we work with in our community.
Books Not Bombs. BNB collects and redistrubutes reading
material, preferably progressive and historical writings,
and offers them to the community at no cost. BNB looks to
collect, among others, childrens books to be distrubuted to
Las Palmas Elememtary School, located across from the
park which SCFNB serves at.

Finally, SCFNB has begun a small collection of youth working
to send items and love into the prison industrial complex.

#7 Every Sunday evening in Huntington Beach:

"Peace vigil every Sunday night at the foot of the
Huntington Beach Pier, 7-8 pm

It's hard for most people to imagine a world at peace.
We are a very small group of people who believe that
this is indeed possible and that peace will happen once
enough people believe that it can. So we stand at the
pier every Sunday night with a sign that says:
"Visualize World Peace. It's up to you".

We also believe in non-violence both physically
and in our thoughts. We will discuss peace and
non-violence with anyone who is rational and
smile quietly at those who aren't. We hold this vigil
in a spirit of dignity and respect for all as we try
to build bridges with those who don't share our
philosophy.

Please bring a candle or just help us hold up our
banner (no signs please; we have our banner!)
