US imposed economic blockade for over 47 years –
a blockade condemned overwhelmingly by the United
Nations. Also, learn about Cuba’s contributions
to help the new Venezuelan revolution by sending
over 25,000 doctors and teachers. The Venezuelan
Revolution has implemented different "misions" in
health care, education, food, housing, etc.- to
benefit the Venezuelan people like "mision
mercal" which covers the basic food requirements
of the poorest 70% of the population in
Venezuela. Also, "Operation Milagro" which will
give free eye operations to 100,000 poor people
in the Americas. Discuss reports on the U.S.
movement in solidarity with Cuba and Venezuela.

FTAA/ALCA (ALBA as a response to the FTAA). Here
we will learn about the bankrupt FTAA, an
agreement to recolonize the Latin American
countries in order to plunder the few natural
resources and steal their sovereignty and ALBA,
the Bolivarian Alternative for the Americas. The
ALBA agreement launched by Venezuela and
supported by Cuba and Bolivia, is a project of
integration and cooperation between Latin America
and the Caribbean in order to confront the
neoliberal policies of the FTAA. Discuss fighting
the plant closings and wage/benefit cuts in the
U.S. and Canada resulting from neo-liberalism.

Immigration US/Latin America– Inmigracion
EE.UU./America Latina. Here we will
discuss immigration caused by NAFTA, FTAA, and
neoliberal policies imposed by the US
transnationals. These policies create millions of
unemployed workers, who are forced to look for
jobs in the US. These working men and women and
their allies took to the streets in large and
small cities and towns across the United States
from March through May 2006 demanding full rights
and legalization. Discuss solidarity between
African-American, Latin American and Anglo workers.

trabajadores Afro-americanos, Latino-americanos y
los trabajadores Anglo-americanos.
