Details on the DART Organizers Institute for people interested in social and
economic justice
Background on the DART Organization:
There are decisions being made everyday that affect the quality of life in our
communities and it is those who possess and exercise power that will determine
the outcome. Power at this level typically comes from two sources: organized
people or organized money. DART rejects the idea that only those with money
should
have a seat at the table when these decisions get made. DART also recognizes
the enormous power that comes about when religious congregations unite in large
numbers to confront the economic, political and social systems that create and
perpetuate injustice.
Therefore, the DART Center began training professional organizers five years
ago in the art and science of congregation-based community organizing. By
combining
on-the-job experience with classroom instruction, the DART Organizers Institute
has become a national leader in training superior organizers. Graduates of our
program have led sweeping changes across the country on issues such as
affordable
housing, accessible healthcare, equitable public education policies, and
others.
If you are angry about the state of our communities and want to see justice
realized,
then you have just discovered a entry way to an important and meaningful career.
