On January 23, 2007 former members and affiliates of the Black Panther Party were rounded up and rearrested under accusations of involvement in a 1971 police shooting for which they had previously been exonerated. The evening will begin with a viewing of the documentary "Legacy of Torture, chronicling the initial 1973 arrest of the SF8 and the methods used to extract confessions. A strategy session will follow with efforts to create the building of a mass movement. Fellow organizers include: Phyllis Boudreaux, wife of one of the imprisoned brothers and Deacon Alexander, former Black Panther Party member. Refreshments will be served. The event is free and open to the public.
