#1 Community Event in Support of UCI Students Trip to Israel and Palestine
July 31 in Irvine

In light of our work with the students at University of California,
Irvine, including the Muslim and Jewish Students, Humanity Unites is
pleased to host a dinner fundraising event for the Olive Tree
Students Initiative on Thursday, July 31st at 6PM

The Olive Tree Initiative was inspired by UCI students who feel the
need to gain individual perspectives and insights into the Israel
Palestine conflict by traveling to the region in September 2008.
Among the diverse students making this trip are Jews, Muslim and
Christians who are equally passionate about the events taking place
in the region.

Humanity Unites is committed to bring value to our community in
specific and measurable means. Therefore, in addition to supporting
our students and due to the increasing job loss in our communities,
we are dedicating the second part of the evening, to our newly added
segment of "Needs and Wants" of the community.

This segment is added to create networking opportunities for our
guests. We will announce the current available job/business
opportunities that may be of value to the community.
Please RSVP your attendance as soon as possible to
[EMAIL PROTECTED] or 949.933.0343, as space is limited.

Cost: $20 per person

#2 Coastal Convergence Society Video Night: Awake From Your Slumber
July 31 in Huntington Beach

Thursday July 31, 2008 7pm - 9pm
Coastal Convergence Society Video Night
Round Table Pizza 19750 Beach Blvd, Huntington Beach
(714) 963-9877

This months offering is a film from the makers of Independent Media
in a Time of War, titled: Awake From Your Slumber, with Patti Smith
and Ralph Nader. Awake From Your Slumber brings together two
visionaries: citizen-activist Ralph Nader and punk poet Patti Smith,
in a powerful dialogue of war and peace.

Touring together as the Democracy Rising Peace Tour, Ralph and Patti
make the case against the Iraq war and the corporate takeover of our
democracy. This Hudson Mohawk Independent Media Center production
mixes image, music and spoken word to strip away the facade of
political lies and reveal the annihilation of civilazation, war
profiteering, the unseen dead, and the unheard cries of mothers.
Awake From Your Slumber is history lesson, poetry reading and rock
concert. Above all, it is an inspiring, mesmerizing, and deeply moving
call to action, showing the power of the people to make change.

The HB Round Table Pizza Parlor is located on Beach Blvd between
Adams and Yorktown in the Albertson's shopping center,
just down the sidewalk from Mothers Market.

I hope to see you all there.

Peace Love and Hugs,

Tom

#3 Amnesty International local group 178 movie showing of Darfur Now
July 31 in Irvine

Our next meeting will be on Thursday 31 July 2008 at 19:30 (7:30 PM).
We are meeting at the Irvine United Congregational Church
(in Plumer Hall).

At our July meeting we will be watching the movie Darfur Now
and discussing the Human Rights situation in Darfur. Please bring a
friend with you. Barbara English, founder of Orange County for Darfur,
is an invited guest and will say a few words about her efforts.

This event is open to the public and free.
Refreshments will be served.

Please join us for a showing of the movie Darfur now and a discussion
on the issues surrounding the Human Rights crisis in Darfur (Sudan).
We will also have suggested actions to take.

With unprecedented access to the internally displaced people of
Darfur, international aid workers, the Sudanese government and rebels,
the critically acclaimed documentary Darfur Now explores the ongoing
conflict in the Darfur region through the experiences of six
individuals trying to stop the atrocities - Adam Sterling,
a UCLA graduate working in Los Angeles; Hejewa Adam, a Darfuri woman
who joins rebel forces; Pablo Recalde, leader of the World Food
Programme’s operations in West Darfur; Don Cheadle, the
internationally known actor and activist; Sheikh Ahmed Mohammed
Abakar, leader of a Darfuri displacement camp; and Luis Moreno-Ocampo,
the Prosecutor of the International Criminal Court in The Hague.
For the first time in history the U.S. Government has declared a
genocide while a conflict is ongoing - but the people of Darfur
continue to suffer. The struggles of these six individuals iluminate
many aspects of this complex catastrophe. Their achievements serve
as a call to action for people everywhere to help end the crisis in
Darfur.
